THE BROOMHEAD TROPHY

Date: 1970

History: Named in honour of Roy Broomhead, who served as our President between 1966 and 1970.  Roy was elected as club patron in 1969 and continued on in this capacity until his death in 1999 at the age of 78. Among his many achievements, Roy was proud of the fact that he held the record for being the longest-serving patron of any golf club in New South Wales.

The Broomhead Trophy started in 1970 as a mixed two ball best ball competition and continued until 1998. It was traditionally played on a Sunday. It was reintroduced in 2023 after a 25-year abeyance.

Rules: The Broomhead Trophy is to be played on Saturday over 18-holes. Each group will be made up of a male member and a lady member.

The trophy must be won by full playing members of Palm Beach Golf Club.

The winners are the pair that have the highest combined two ball best ball score over the two rounds.
